Windows 95/98 Dialer Setup
Use the setting below to configure your Internet connection for Windows 95/95.
DIAL UP NETWORKING
- Click the Windows Start button, select Programs, then accessories. If there is a program called Dial-up Networking, skip to "Installing TCP/IP". If you did not have Dial-up Networking in the accessories menu, go to the Windows Start button, click settings, choose Control panel.
- Double-click on Add/Remove Programs.
- Click on the Windows Setup tab.
- Double-click on Communications.
- Be sure that Dial-up Networking is checked.
- Click on the ok button, click okay again.

f prompted, insert your Windows95 disk.
- If prompted, for Computer Name, Workgroup, or Description, use your username, Comteck, and your real name respectively.
- If prompted, restart your computer.
INSTALLING THE TCP/IP PROTOCOL
- Click on the Windows Start button, click settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click on the Network icon. You should have a list of installed network protocols here.
- If you have TCP/IP skip to "Configuring TCP/IP"
- Click on the Add button.
- Double-click on Protocol.
- In left column choose Microsoft.
- In the right column double-click TCP/IP
- You should now see a list of installed components.
- Now proceed to "Configuring TCP/IP".
CONFIGURING TCP/IP
- Click the Windows Start button, then Settings, then Control Panel. Double-click the Network icon.
- Double-click on TCP/IP.
- You should see 6 tabs.

Click on the WINS Configuration tab and put a dot in disable WINS.
- Click on the DNS Configuration tab and put a dot in Enable DNS.
- In the host field put your user name in lower case letters.
- In the domain field put in comteck.com
- In the DNS Server Search Order field put in the following numbers: 209.045.185.5 then click add at the right.
- The number will drop to the box below minus one 0.
- For Domain Suffix Search Order put in comteck.com and then click add at the right. It will drop to the box below.
- Click okay out of TCP/IP, then click okay out of Network.
- Your computer will confirm a settings change and ask you to restart your computer.
MAKING THE CONNECTION
- Click the Windows Start button, choose Programs, then accessories, then click on Dial-up Networking.
- If this is the first time in this area you will get a wizard to setup a Dial-up Networking Icon. If a wizard does not appear, double-click on the Make New Connection icon.
- The first screen tells you what it is going to do, click next.
- This screen is asking for a name, type Comteck in the place of My Connection, then click next.
- Enter your local number (example:3845060)
- Click finish.
- Double-click on the Comteck icon.
- In the username field put the user name that you chose with us. Make sure it is in lower case letters, and has no spaces or dots or commas.
- In the password field, put in the password that you chose with us, again make sure it is in lower case and has no other characters.
- Be sure the Phone number is correct and then click cancel.
- Then right click on the Comteck icon.
- Then left click properties.
- Then left clicks create shortcut. (You will get a message saying Windows cannot create a shortcut here, would you like to have it placed on the desktop instead? Click yes)
